Visiting Zaragoza…

31 08 2011

We recently visited a small town called Zaragoza which is about 45 minutes drive from where we live.  It was an amazingly learning experience for us.  As we are living fairly close to the city we can get use to seeing ‘normal’ lives of Guatemalan’s complete with access to shops and cars etc.

While in Zaragoza, however, we attended a project that is trying to combat the big local problem of children suffering from water-borne diseases.  It is a project run by Guatemalans for Guatemalans, which is great to see.  The project is using a micro-enterprise approach in order that the women involved and their family’s have access to clean drinking water.

Needless to say it was an inspiring day and project.  Charmari and I both valued the time we spent in the workshop and meeting the women there.
